TOGETHER WITH OUR SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENTS

Let's make your coffee shop at home a little more dolce for the environment and you.

1/3 LESS VIRGIN PLASTIC BY 2025

We are focused on improving the design of our capsules and machines to use less virgin plastic wherever possible.

DISCOVER OUR INITIATIVES

Reduce

Reduced plastic by decreasing the weight of our capsule

In 2022, we reduced the amount of plastic that’s needed to make our capsules by 13%, without compromising on product quality. This activity meant that we saved an amount of plastic, equivalent to 26.3M* capsules.

Recover

Increase the use of recycled plastic in our capsules

Since 2021 we have started to invest in the circular economy of polypropylene in partnership with our suppliers.

Year after year, we are increasing the usage of recycled polypropylene via mass balance to reach our goal of 1/3 virgin plastic reduction for our capsules.

Recycle

Our pods are designed to be recycled. We are currently working with stakeholders on a solution to recycle NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® pods in Ireland. Keep checking for updates, early 2025!

Rethink

Taste the future

We're introducing NEO, our next generation of coffee shop experience at home, with paper-based pods and sachets.

Increase the use of recycled plastic and the life of each machine.

By 2025, we aim to increase 1/3 of the proportion of recycled plastic in our machines.

We are focusing on improving the sustainability credentials of our machines by increasing the use of recycled plastic which is harder wearing, this ensures that our machines are made to last longer. As a result, our machines also come with a 15 year warranty in collaboration with our machine partner De’longhi.

Proud to use Regenerative Agriculture and 100% responsibly sourced coffee

We have achieved 100% responsibly sourced coffee and we are working to achieve 100% sustainably sourced cocoa in our beverages as well. We are starting a journey to support farmers to apply regenerative agriculture methods - with the aim of improving soil health and increasing biodiversity.

100% responsibly sourced coffee since 2022

Thanks to the NESCAFÉ® advanced sourcing program, 100% of our coffee beans have been responsibly sourced since 2022. Our beans come from certified or verified farmers applying independent standards with social, economic, and environmental practices that support a better future for coffee.

Committed to 100% sustainably sourced cocoa by 2025%

As part of Nestlé's cocoa plan, we train farmers in better agricultural practices, distribute higher-yielding cocoa trees, promote gender equality, address instances of child labour and develop long-term relationships with farming groups.

By 2025, 100% of our cocoa beans will be sustainably sourced.

Striving towards 20% of our coffee coming from regenerative agriculture by 2025

Regenerative agriculture is an approach to farming that aims to improve soil health and fertility whilst also protecting water resources and biodiversity. Healthier soils are more resilient to the impacts of climate change and can increase yields, helping to improve farmers’ livelihoods. By 2025, we aim to have 20% of our coffee sourced through regenerative agriculture.

Did you know?

Milk represents around 40% our our emissions footprint. We are starting to invest in a transition to regenerative farming practices in our dairy supply chain with pilots in Spain and France which aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions whilst optimising farming practices such as through improved soil and manure management.

Contribute to reduce Nestlé's carbon emission by -20% in 2025

Contributing to Nestlé's commitments, we are working hard to reduce our CO2 emissions throughout our value chain, from sourcing our ingredients, packaging our products, and designing our machines to managing our logistics, factories, and energy.
